The label is everywhere, but it has a specific legal meaning — and most food that carries it informally does not qualify.
A legal term, not a marketing one
Human-grade means every ingredient, and every step of handling and packing, meets the standard for food sold for people. Not almost. Every step.
Feed-grade is the other category, and it is not automatically bad — it is simply held to a different standard, one that allows material no grocery shop could sell.
How to check
Ask where the food is made. A genuine human-grade product is produced in a facility licensed for human food, and the maker will tell you which one without hesitating.
