Switching Foods Without the Upset

Tips

A ten-day transition, and what to do when it still goes wrong.

The ten-day plan

Days one to three, a quarter new food. Days four to six, half. Days seven to nine, three quarters. Day ten, all new. Slower is always safe; faster rarely is.

When it goes wrong anyway

Drop back to the last ratio your dog handled well and hold there for three days before moving on. Some dogs need three weeks, and that is not a failure of the food.
